what a swift mood change once we left the hyperion.
i checked my twitter feed on my iphone and saw that there was an earthquake alert in japan, posted over an hour before i saw it. it dawned on me that chris was in japan so i checked his facebook page, and hoped that he had internet where he was. he is okay, thankfully. but japan is now at the mercy of aftershocks and tsunamis. the live coverage of japan getting wrecked by tsunamis is insane. so bizarre.
and to think, things over there could be worse than how they are right now. i'm not saying it isn't bad (it's completely tragic), but it could have been way more intense had the country not been so well prepared to handle tsunamis and earthquakes. i can't imagine what would happen to long beach or los angeles if an 8.9 earthquake hit. we're barely equipped for giant earthquakes, let alone giant floods or tsunamis.
tokyo disney is currently flooded, fires are breaking out at refineries, cars are washing away. i think it was said that the epicenter was 32 miles deep, and offshore.
